Problem: | When using Fixed Duration and Units, Adding/Deleting Multiple Resource Assignments causes Planned Duration and Original Duration to change. For this solution to be applicable, the following conditions must be true: 1. Activity Type = Resource Dependent 2. Duration Type = Fixed Duration and Units 3. The Activity Calendar’s valid work-time is different than the Resource Assignments’ valid work-time. 4. User Preference set to Recalculate the Units,Durations, and Units/Time for existing assignments Steps to reproduce: Create an activity with the following attributes: 1. Resource Dependent 2. Fixed Duration and Units 3. Activity Calendar different than the resource assignments calendar. 4. User Preference set to Recalculate the Units, Duration, and Units/Time for existing assignments based on the activity Duration Type5. Add Assignments and verify the planned units and duration on the assignments. 6. Remove one of the assignments and this should ONLY recalculate Units and UPT but should leave Duration unchanged. However the Units, Duration and UPT are changed on the remaining assignments. |
Fix: | This known problem in Project Management will be corrected in a future release. Possible Workarounds Use Task Dependent instead of Resource Dependent or Make the Activity Calendar identical to the Resource Calendar or Use “Preserve the Units, Durations and Units/Time for existing assignments” located Edit, User Preferences, Calculations tab |
